Gingerbread Man Crochet Chart
You can follow the crochet chart below as you work through your gingerbread man tapestry. The chart shows where to make your colour changes to create the gingerbread design.

If you’re new to working from crochet charts, don’t worry! I explain how to read the chart in the video, including how to follow each row and identify when it’s time to change colours.
Tapestry Crochet Tips & Techniques
Tapestry crochet is a fun way to create pictures and patterns using different yarn colours. Rather than working separate sections of colour, you carry the unused yarn along as you crochet, switching colours whenever your chart indicates.
Here are a few of the techniques I cover in the tutorial:
How to Read a Crochet Chart
A crochet chart is a visual representation of your pattern, with each square representing a stitch. Each square indicates which colour to use, allowing you to build your design row by row. Following a chart might seem a little intimidating at first, but once you understand how to read it, it becomes much easier to create your own tapestry crochet designs. How to Change Colours in Tapestry Crochet
For clean colour changes, you’ll want to complete the final yarn-over of your stitch using the new colour. This allows the next stitch to begin in the correct colour and helps create neat transitions between sections. See tutorial here.
Managing Your Yarn & Leaving Floats
When working with multiple colours, managing your yarn can make a big difference! In the tutorial, I demonstrate how to carry your yarn as you work, when to leave floats at the back of your project, and how to catch your floats so they don’t become too long or loose. See tutorial here for more.
Learning when to carry your yarn and when to leave a float will help keep your work neat and manageable, especially when working on designs with larger sections of colour.
