Snowman Crochet Mug – Free Pattern

In January, we celebrate snow and snowmen! My last post was dedicated to a super cute and easy crochet snowman garland and, in this one, I am sharing what might be my favourite seasonal mug (so far)! If you have seen some of my previous posts, you know I love to create mugs for the play kitchen. I have previously shared the cauldron and mummy mugs I created for Halloween as well as two Christmas mugs (here and here) for the festive season. To celebrate winter, I created this uber cute snowman crochet mug and I hope your little ones love playing with it as much as mine does. I designed these patterns to be quick and easy to do. Materials:

• 3mm hook 
• White, brown, black and orange yarn. I used light (3) acrylic yarn.
• Stuffing material
• Scissors
• Needle
• Stitch marker

Finished size:

Approx. 7cm tall by 11cm wide (including handle).

• Chain (ch)
• Single crochet (sc)
• Increase (inc)
• Decrease (dec)

Mug:

Round 1: In white, 6 sc in a magic circle. (6)

Round 2: Inc around. (12)

Round 3: (1 sc, 1 inc) repeat around. (18)

Round 4: (2 sc, 1 inc) repeat around. (24)

Round 5: (3 sc, 1 inc) repeat around. (30)

Round 6: (4 sc, 1 inc) repeat around. (36)

Round 7: (5 sc, 1 inc) repeat around. (42)

Round 8: (6 sc, 1 inc) repeat around. (48)

Round 9: (7 sc, 1 inc) repeat around. (54)

Rounds 10-16: Sc around. (54)

Round 17: (7 sc, 1 dec) repeat around. (48)

Round 18: (6 sc, 1 dec) repeat around. (42)

Round 19: (5 sc, 1 dec) repeat around. (36)

Round 20: In the front loops only, sc around. Cut off. (36)

Coffee:

Round 1: In brown, 6 sc in a magic circle. (6)

Round 2: Inc around. (12)

Round 3: (1 sc, 1 inc) repeat around. (18)

Round 4: (2 sc, 1 inc) repeat around. (24)

Round 5: (3 sc, 1 inc) repeat around. (30)

Round 6: (4 sc, 1 inc) repeat around. Cut off leaving a long tail for sewing. (36)

Handle:

Round 1: In white, 6 sc in a magic circle. (6)

Rounds 2-18: Sc around. Cut off leaving a long tail for sewing. (6)

Eyes (Make two):

In black, ch 3, 1 sc in the second ch from the hook, 3 sc in the next stitch, 1 sc in the next stitch, slip stitch in the first sc to create an oval. Tie off leaving a long tail for sewing.

Nose:

Round 1: In orange, 5 sc in a magic circle. (6)

Rounds 2-3: Sc around. (6)

Round 4: 1 dc, 2 sc, 1 dc. (4) Cut yarn leaving a tail for sewing and sew shut.

To assemble: 

-Put stuffing into the mug and stitch the coffee inside the mug in the back loops created in round 20.

-Attach the handle to the side of the mug.

-Attach the nose and the eyes to the mug and add white stitching to create pupils. 

-Stitch in a smile and, if desired, a milk swirl using white yarn in the coffee.
