Love, love, love…Today I’m sharing all of my family’s favourite books that celebrate Valentine’s day and love. Many of these are perfect bedtime stories all year long and are a great addition to festive bookshelves for this season. Additionally, I decorated our shelves using a heart garland I crocheted and a printable I created that is available for download below. Do you have any favourite Valentine’s Day books for kids? Happy reading!

Our Favourite Valentine’s Day Books:
Oh so fun! This is a new addition to our shelves and it is adorable. When Seal arrives at the zoo, she tries making friends by giving kisses but the other animals all run away from her fishy breath! Will they ever get along? Fun note: Seal is French and reading her accent is so much fun, oui oui!
I love this series! You may have seen in our Christmas book collection Here Comes Santa Cat. Well we also have Teacher Cat and Valentine Cat and we love the play between the narrator and the cat’s responses. In this one, Cat does not love Valentine’s day and likes even less the new dog next door. Will something make him change his mind?
This book sure is cute and I love its heart-shape on my bookshelf. If you love Peanuts this is a must and you might be surprised at who will be Charlie Brown’s valentine.
Franklin prepped so many Valentine’s day cards for his friends, but as he runs out the door, he does not notice that he drops them and they get ruined. How will the day go now that he has nothing to offer to his friends? This is a lovely story that manages to celebrate friendship beautifully.
This is a lovely book, especially for young kids. My child loves turning the pages and opening the tabs and I love to find the hidden hearts on every page. It also manages to express all the different ways love takes shape.
A classic. We read this one all the time. I was given an English version and a pop-up French version when my child was born and I love them both. Cute, heartwarming, perfect comforting bedtime story.
The sweetest book and perfect for bedtime. The cute and funny rhymes express perfectly that love has no bound and how much we love our little ones. I think this could also be the perfect baby or baby shower gift.
“Of all the children that ever could be, you are the one made just for me.” This is the sweetest story of a father watching his kid grow and telling him how much he means to him. I love this book so much and it always pulls on my heartstrings. This would also be a great option for Father’s day.
Lastly, Edmond et Amandine is a French book and I decided to include it in this list as it is funny, charming, witty, and one of our favourites. Edmond is obsessed with love stories and is desperately in love with Amandine. He finally decides to gather all his courage and write his feelings to Amandine. And you will never guess her answer! Super cute, funny, and we love the illustrations.
Free Printable:
As with our Winter books, I created this printable that I framed and hung above our bookshelves. If you would also like this added touch to your library, it is free to download.
Until next time, happy Valentine’s Day!
