Christmas Snowflake Mug – Free Crochet Pattern

Christmas Snowflake Mug - Free Crochet Pattern

It’s the holiday season! I’ve been having so much fun designing mini crochet mugs for Christmas, and my little one has been loving playing with them in his play kitchen. These free crochet patterns make adorable pretend play accessories, gifts, or seasonal decorations.

Inspired by the Fair Isle style of our family’s Christmas stockings, I designed two festive crochet mugs: one with a classic snowflake pattern (shared in this post), and one with a crochet Christmas tree design (available here). Both are beginner-friendly and quick to make—perfect for adding a handmade touch to your holiday decor or gifting to little ones.

Whether you’re making these for Christmas pretend play, holiday decor, or simply love festive mini crochet, these crochet Christmas mug patterns are sure to bring joy!

Materials:

  • 3mm hook
  • White, red, and brown yarn. I used light (3) acrylic yarn.
  • Stuffing material
  • Scissors
  • Needle
  • Stitch marker

Finished size:

Approx. 8,5cm tall by 9,5cm wide (including handle).

Terms and abbreviations (US Terms):

  • Chain (ch)
  • Single crochet (sc)
  • Increase (inc)
  • Decrease (dec)

Pattern Notes:

-This pattern is worked in continuous rounds. There is no need to join with a slip stitch at the end of each round.

-When changing colour, be sure to switch mid stitch. To do so, insert your hook with Colour A in the stitch before the colour change, yarn over pulling two loops of colour A, then switch colour and yarn over with Colour B.

-When working with two colours, be careful that your tension is not too tight, especially when changing colours after several stitches. If you find that your mug has a strange shape, you may want to carry your yarn. See tutorial here.
