Snowman Crochet Garland – Free Pattern

Continuing my obsession with themed bookshelves (see Fall here), for January, we celebrate snow and snowmen! I came across a snowman garland online that I just adored and knew I had to recreate it. I absolutely love how these little guys turned out, so I am sharing the pattern, which is super easy and quick to do, in case you would like to create them too. You can crochet as many as you would like and be sure to have fun choosing different scarf colours. I hope you enjoy this snowman crochet garland and that it manages to bring a little brightness to dull January days.

Materials:

• 3mm hook 
• 1.65mm hook
• White yarn and various colours for the scarves. I used light (3) acrylic yarn.
• Orange crochet thread, size 10.
• Stuffing material
• Scissors
• Needle
• Stitch marker

Finished size: Approximately 7 by 5 cm.

• Chain (ch)
• Single crochet (sc)
• Increase (inc)
• Decrease (dec)
• Half double crochet (hdc)
• Double crochet (dc)

Snowman:

Round 1: In white, 6 sc in a magic circle. (6)

Round 2: Inc around. (12)

Round 3: (1 sc, 1 inc) repeat around. (18)

Rounds 4-8: Sc around. (18)

Round 9: (1 sc, 1 dc) repeat around. (12) 

Start to add stuffing.

Round 10: Dec around. (6)

Round 11: Inc around. (12)

Round 12: (1 sc, 1 inc) repeat around. (18)

Round 13: (2 sc, 1 inc) repeat around. (24)

Rounds 14-18: Sc around. (24)

Round 19: (2 sc, 1 dec) repeat around. (18)

Round 20: (1 sc, 1 dec) repeat around. (12)

Stuff.

Round 21: Dec around. (6) Cut off yarn and sew shut.

Nose:

With orange crochet thread and a 1.65mm hook, ch 4. Starting in the 2nd ch from hook, hdc, hdc in the next ch, dc in the last ch. Cut off leaving a tail for sewing and attach to the snowman.

Scarf:

In the colour of your choice, ch 40. Starting in the 2nd ch from hook, hdc and hdc in every remaining ch. Cut off, tie around the snowman and sew in place if desired.
