I must admit, I have an obsession with crafting holiday decor. You will often find me searching the Internet for new patterns to do to decorate my house for the holidays. I have created many pieces and, even with everything available to buy in store and online, they remain some of my most treasured decor items. To inspire you to pick up your crochet hook or knitting needles, I wanted to share some Halloween crochet and knitted patterns that I use every year to decorate my house. Here, I hope you will find the next crafting project that you will cherish for years to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Knitted Pillows<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Although I prefer and I am much better at crocheting, a couple of years ago, I wanted to try knitting. I still consider myself very much a beginner as I only really managed to knit pillows and hats. However, among the things I have knitted, I am pretty proud of The Boo Pillow. Even if it is one of the first things I ever crafted with knitting needles, I just love this pattern for the spooky season. While They Dream has succeeded in creating such a fun pattern for Halloween with the ghost and candy corn and I love to display it every year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This second pillow, titled The Owen Sisters, was also created by While They Dream and is a homage to my favourite Halloween movie of all time. As such, I just had to make (some of) it while watching Hocus Pocus and it was the perfect way to get into the spooky spirit. The pillow goes perfectly with my other witchy decor and it is great to cuddle with while watching all the scary movies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Halloween Amigurumi<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Among the Halloween amigurumi that I have created, I believe these ghosts were among the first I made after learning how to crochet. I made four and used to hang them at different heights above a doorway, but these would also be great strung as a garland. The pattern is available for free via YouTube, so this is a great beginner friendly option if you are just starting to crochet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the ghosts, I had a blast creating these mummies. I particularly loved how the pattern used back loop stitches to create the mummy\u2019s fabric strips. This pattern comes with both French and English instructions and it was a really fun one to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next, I wanted to create bats but could not find a pattern I was in love with. I wished for something that had great wings with a three dimensional body. Therefore, I created my own body for the bats and followed the pattern by Little  Owls Hut for the wings. I then placed a wire in the wings and was able to shape them. I love to display my bats in different positions, some are mid-flight while the others are resting upside down. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based on the height and shape of the mummies, I started to experiment and ended up creating what I now call my \u201cMonster Mash.\u201d Indeed, I crafted little characters that I just love, including Frankenstein\u2019s monster and its bride, a zombie, and, probably my favourite, the Creature From the Black Lagoon. I used to display them in a garland but nowadays, they decorate my child\u2019s Halloween bookshelves.
