It\u2019s the most wonderful time of the year! I may spend all year crafting and crocheting holiday projects but I still get so excited when Christmas time is finally here and get to display everything I have created. In this post, I will share my favourite crochet baubles and ornaments (stay tuned for my favourite crochet and knitted Christmas patterns). You might notice that I love crocheting ornaments based on my favourite holiday movies, ones that I watch several times every Christmas season. And just like these movies, these projects bring me joy as well as all the cozy and heartwarming feelings of the season. I hope you find something inspiring that will bring you lots of Christmas cheer!\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wet Bandits Home Alone<\/a> by Maria Zhyrakova<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s start with ornaments inspired by Home Alone, which is probably my favourite movie of all time. Do you cry too at the final scene when the old man is reunited with his family and gets to hug his granddaughter? Ahh that gets me every time! Funny, heartwarming, I just adore this movie. When I came across the Wet Bandits Ornaments by Maria Zhyrakova, I had to make them and they are among my favourite ornaments on my tree. I love that Marv has the iron mark on his face and that Harry\u2019s head is burned with feathers, so funny!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have also crocheted a mini version of Kevin\u2019s hat. I really want a version that fits me, but I probably need to get much better at knitting first. This small version is crocheted and is part of a bigger pattern to make Kevin himself! It even includes a copy of his battle plan to defend his house. Next up, inspired by more of my favourite holiday movies are crochet ornaments based on Elf and the Grinch. These were freehanded, so I do not have a pattern (yet) but I loved creating baby Grinch, Max, a stocking with a heart that is tree sizes too big as well as Buddy the Elf. I\u2019ve also crafted several candy canes, since they are one of the four food groups. Unfortunately, the pattern I used for these has been discontinued, but I found another cute and free pattern here<\/a>. The mini stocking I crafted in several colours, including the Grinch one, are based on this free tutorial<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n

Lastly, my pride and joy! When I came across the Purr-resent tutorial by Complicated Knots on youtube, I just knew I had to make it but with my cats. I modified the pattern to adapt it to my needs and I am so in love with the results, these look just like my cats. Even their expressions are similar to what they look like in real life. A little fun tip\u2026did you know you can brush yarn with a cat brush to make it look like fur? I used this technique on the cats and this is also how I made the baby Grinch ornament. Just be sure to avoid or cover the eyes (I used tape) otherwise the brush will scratch them. I\u2019m so proud of these and will treasure these keepsakes for years to come. Needless to say, these have the best spots on my tree!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
