I don\u2019t know about you but I love a good snow day! I have such nostalgic memories of cold snowy winters, and remember how excited I was when school was cancelled and we could play in the snow all day. To celebrate this time of year and to make January a little less dreary, I am sharing my favourite winter books for kids. These stories will make you feel warm inside, even with the cold temperatures outside. They are perfect to cozy up with a cup of warm cocoa while snow is falling outside. One Snowy Night<\/a> by Nick Butterworth<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

This is a great story about an innkeeper welcoming animals into his bed to shelter them from a cold snowy night. As his bed is quickly becoming too small, will all the animals find a spot to stay warm? Fun fact, this book is actually the copy my husband had when he was a kid and I just love reading it to our family. This one is probably our favourite!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sweetest Kulu<\/a> by Celina Kalluck<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Sweetest Kulu is a poem written by an Inuit throat singer about the gifts and values given to a newborn by the animals of the Arctic. This is a beautifully illustrated heartwarming book and I think it is also the perfect gift idea to celebrate the arrival of a new baby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Loud Winter\u2019s Nap<\/a> by Katy Hudson<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Tortoise only wants to nap in the winter. Unfortunately, his cozy warm bed is constantly disturbed by his friends who enjoy the cold season. As he searches a quiet area, he discovers the joy of winter and decides he may want to skip his nap after all. I own several books by Hudson and I really enjoy how fun this series is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Goodbye Autumn, Hello Winter<\/a> by Kenard Pak<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

This is also part of a series dedicated to the seasons. I own all the books that have been released (Spring, Autumn, and Winter) and I think these are wonderful books showing, in this case, all the changes one can see in nature when fall turns into winter. I love to look at the beautiful illustrations every season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are looking for a book for your next snow day, this is it! This is a beautiful book that manages to make you feel all the excitement of a snow fall through the eyes of a child. From the first snowflake, to being sent home early from school, to playing in the snow and warming up by the fire, this book conveys all the magic of a snow day. It is beautifully written and absolutely lovely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
